JOE MALCOLMSON

Football has always been my passion for as long as I can remember. Having played my whole life, I went into coaching at 23. After spending two years at college studying sports coaching, gaining my first coaching badges & coaching at grassroots, I got my first role in a professional youth academy as an assistant at Stenhousemuir FC. I spent only a year here before moving to Hamilton Academical, Heart of Midlothian & Partick Thistle FC over the next 12 years. Holding various roles from assistant, head coach, head of coaching and head of youth phase, I was fortunate enough to work with many players who have went on to play at the top level in both England and Scotland. During this time I completed my UEFA Elite Youth A License in 2013.

I’ve been fortunate to have many notable mentors in my time, assistant to Alex Neil with Hamilton u18s (head coach Norwich City, Preston, Stoke, Sunderland, Millwall), assistant to Frankie McAvoy at Hamilton u16s ( head coach Preston, Hearts) Scott Allison (academy director Dundee United, Partick Thistle, Nottm Forest u18).

As part of my personal development I undertook various week long studies at European Football academies including Benfica & Valencia, and have visited many English academies such as Newcastle United, Man City, Birmingham City & Sunderland.
