LARRY MENDEZ

Growing up in Los Angeles, CA - futbal/soccer was big in our family. My best childhood memories are of training with my dad in our backyard and seeing how proud my dad was of me when he attended my games.

After having kids of my own and my father passing away, I decided to keep up the tradition and train my kids in soccer as well, and that is what started my coaching career.

In 2008, I began coaching for a nonprofit organization as a volunteer. The program was designed to keep kids off the streets. It was such a fulfilling experience, so naturally it became my passion, as I realized that coaching was much more than just about the sport but also about helping players build self-esteem, dedication, determination, discipline, teamwork, and so much more.

My training is focused on teaching the game at a tactical level, understanding soccer terminology to get them ready for next level teams, how to carry themselves on/off the pitch, and overall my goal is to bring out the best version of themselves in each and every player.

I was very fortunate to be mentored by many high level coaches including a Coach & Recruiter of a Mexican professional futbol club in La Liga MX.

I have 8 years of experience coaching Club Soccer with AYSO United, Central California Aztecs, & Albion.
